With a love of both science and food, Jean LaMantia discovered that a career as a Registered Dietitian would combine both interests. Motivated by her experiences with cancer (both as a caregiver for her father and a survivor herself), LaMantia has dedicated her practice to working with people whose lives have been touched by cancer in some way. Whether a client has had a close call, has a family history of cancer, is in active treatment or has just finished treatment, LaMantia is there to help them live their healthiest lives with smart nutrition choices.
Providing house calls gives LaMantia a level of satisfaction she doesn’t get in hospital settings. “I found I could be so much more effective with nutrition therapy in the home. When you talk to someone in their hospital bed about what they will eat when they go home, it just doesn’t have the same result,” shared LaMantia. “Being in the home allows me to see what’s in the fridge, what’s on the food label, and get a real sense of the challenges and goals of my clients.”
LaMantia is excited to grow with MediSeen because it will allow her to meet new people with whom she would have likely never crossed paths. Her goal is to provide personalized, compassionate, and evidence-informed nutrition for all of her clients, and MediSeen will help her to reach even more people who need her assistance.
Fun Fact About Jean LaMantia: “I coach kids’ hockey and softball and I really love it. I never thought of myself as much of an athlete as a kid, but I can see now that I did master a lot of skills and I am happy to share what I can with the next generation.”
