1. How I became an RMT
I sort of fell into massage therapy.
When I was in RMT school I was actually also teaching fitness classes and my students knew I was in school for massage therapy and they were all really supportive. So it was all word-of-mouth. As soon as I was registered I started doing massages for all these active people, for people really into fitness in health, so lots of athletic massages. It all sort of grew from there and I ended up on a few prenatal Facebook groups. It was all crazy word-of-mouth with social media.
I decided to go back to school to do a Masters in Counselling Psychology. I’ll continue doing this until eventually, I transition more into helping people with their mental health.
2. What I love about my job
My number one thing I like about my current job is getting to connect with people. Because I only work out of people’s homes it’s very comfortable. I usually meet people’s families. It’s a very low-stress, therapeutic setting. No one opens the door and is upset to see a massage therapist; they’re usually pretty happy.
3. Why I love house calls
I like home visits rather than being at a clinic or a spa, I see the same clients over a long period of time. From a professional standpoint, I know their bodies really well so it’s easier for me to work as an efficient therapist.
I only do in-home treatment. It gives me flexibility; free time. It’s allowed me to go back to school which is good. I usually do school work during the day and see clients in the evenings.
4. Why I joined MediSeen
I decided to join MediSeen because I think the future of health care is going to be in-home. It’s easier for clients and it gives practitioners more flexibility over their time and their work schedule. I really believe in it and think it allows people to have greater access to health care, particularly around a busy work schedule. I think it’s a really great opportunity for all parties.
5. What’s something you don’t know about me?
I’m also a Canfitpro Certified Personal Training Specialist.
